Tom Hynes

Tom Hynes is an active jazz guitarist, composer and educator in Southern California. He is an Associate Professor of Music at Azusa Pacific University, and works for Idyllwild Arts as Academy jazz guitar instructor and Director of Jazz in the Pines Student Clinic summer jazz camp.

Tom’s performance credits include more than 30 years as the guitarist in the Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra. His composition credits include film music for the Smithsonian Institute, chamber music for the Orange County Museum of Art, and numerous jazz ensemble compositions for high school and college groups.

He lives in Whittier, CA with his wife Hope, Director of Music at St. Gregory the Great School; their son, Michael; and an aggressively affectionate English/American lab mix named Molly.
